Vulnerable families and people struggling with the cost of living can apply for financial help from Guildford Borough Council’s Household Support Fund.
Money is available to help buy food, pay for fuel and other essential items.
This money is for anybody in the borough who needs it. People can apply on behalf of themselves, or on behalf of somebody else.
The council is asking people to apply online, click here.
Or by phone on 01483 458055, if help is needed filling in the form.
The scheme will be open until March 31, 2023.
The leader of Guildford Borough Council, Julia McShane, who is also the councillor for communities and housing, said: “We know that many people in our communities have relied on this money since the scheme first opened in September 2021.
“We work hard to make the application process as quick, easy, and inclusive as possible. It’s so important to us that we reach people who need support the most. Our new online application form helps us make that possible.
“So we can distribute the money to as many people as possible, residents can submit one application per household. A grant of up to £400 per household is available to those who are without enough resources to meet their short-term needs.
“We aim to get money to approved applicants as soon as possible, prioritising those in crisis. We will make a payment straight into your bank account.
“We ask you give us as much detail as possible. This will help us make sure the funds we give you meet your household needs and priorities. If you need help applying don’t wait to get in touch, we are here to support you.”
The council’s Community Wellbeing team can also help people access food, clothing, or essential items. Send an email to community.services@guildford.gov.uk or phone 01483 444150.
