Guildford council has already distributed £3 million in government pandemic crisis grants to businesses in the borough and is encouraging other local proprietors suffering trade problems to apply so further funds can be supplied this month.

Several businesses have still not completed the form with the additional information required by the government which was published last week. If this affects your business, please make sure you complete the form at https://www.guildford.gov.uk/busgrant. Grants cannot be paid until this form is completed.

Joss Bigmore when interviewed recently

Cllr Joss Bigmore (R4GV, Christchurch), lead for Finance and Assets and Customer Services said: “We know that 50% of businesses in our borough who should be eligible for help from the government haven’t applied for a business grant yet.

“Don’t miss out on the money that can help you through these difficult times. More claims are being processed every day and we want to help protect all the businesses that make up our vibrant local economy.

“Some business ratepayers provide us only with us with a postal address and we understand many of you will not be able to visit your business to collect mail at this time. But if you have not provided us with an email address, this is the only way we can contact you, so please make sure your details are up-to-date.”
