A service at Guildford Cathedral will be part of a nationwide event to mark five years since the start of the Covid 19 pandemic in March 2020.
Sunday, March 9, is the Day of Reflection across the UK. It is being organised to give an opportunity for people to come together and remember those who lost their lives since the pandemic began and to honour the work and acts of kindness shown during this unprecedented time.
A spokesperson for the cathedral said: “2025 marks five years since the pandemic began and we continue to honour and remember those affected. Join us at the Cathedral as we mark the Day of Reflection. During our 9.45am Eucharist Service, we will light a memorial candle between the prayers and the peace, with a short liturgy led by the president.
“The candle will then be placed in the Lady Chapel, offering a quiet space for prayer and reflection throughout the day. All are welcome to join us for the service or to visit the Lady Chapel in your own time. The Lady Chapel is open daily as a space for private prayer and quiet reflection, everyone is welcome.”
