Shaftesbury Hall in Artillery Terrace became a little India on Saturday night. Indian food and music entertained 70 local residents at a fundraiser in aid of Global Handprints.

Organiser Caroline Reeves was delighted with the turn out on an extremely cold night, and thanked everyone for entering into the spirit of the evening.

She said: “We raised over £1150 which will go to the school we support in Pachmarhi, India.

“We plan to help them create a kitchen garden so that the children can be involved in growing food which they can then cook for their lunch.

“A special thanks goes to our fantastic local foodies, Urvashi Lakhani for feeding us all so admirably with her fantastic Indian food and Callum Stanton for his delicious chocolate brownies, and to my friends who helped transform the hall into a cosy, sparkly room.”
