Two public meetings are still being planned to hear residents’ points of view following the “major incident” in Guildford and Godalming when water supplies were interrupted over the course of a week.

Waverley Borough Council appears to be proceeding with arrangements for a meeting at the council offices on December 8. It has been reported that the leader of Guildford Borough Council, Cllr Julia McShane, will be attending but Thames Water have said they will not be attending. (A further update on this meeting is still awaited. Please check back.)
Meanwhile, details of a meeting with the interim Co-CEO of Thames Water, jointly arranged by two Conservative MPs, Angela Richardson (Guildford) and Jeremy Hunt (Surrey South West), have now been announced.
Ms Richardson said: “The public meeting on December 15 is an important opportunity for residents of Guildford and the affected villages to make their voices heard by asking their questions directly to the Co-CEO of Thames Water.
“This will also be a chance to hear from Thames Water about the causes of the incident and planned infrastructure upgrades.”
The meeting will be opened by Ms Richardson and chaired by Mr Hunt but local council representatives are not being invited and will have to register to secure a place along with members of the public.
The details of the meeting have been announced:
Date/time: Friday 15th December, from 5.15pm to 6.30pm
Location: University of Surrey’s Rik Medlik Building Lecture Theatre, GU2 7XH
Parking: Please use the University’s North Car Park, a short walk away from the theatre. Please note, parking is only free from 5pm onwards. Therefore, to avoid being charged please do not arrive before 5pm.

Pre-submission of questions: To maximise use of the time available the booking link will provide you with the option to submit a question in advance to Thames Water. At the meeting, the chair will use a mixture of questions from the floor and from those submitted in advance. You are advised to book a place as soon as possible as spaces are restricted.
