Meanwhile, details of a meeting with the interim Co-CEO of Thames Water, jointly arranged by two Conservative MPs, Angela Richardson (Guildford) and Jeremy Hunt (Surrey South West), have now been announced.

Ms Richardson said: “The public meeting on December 15 is an important opportunity for residents of Guildford and the affected villages to make their voices heard by asking their questions directly to the Co-CEO of Thames Water.

“This will also be a chance to hear from Thames Water about the causes of the incident and planned infrastructure upgrades.”

The meeting will be opened by Ms Richardson and chaired by Mr Hunt but local council representatives are not being invited and will have to register to secure a place along with members of the public.
