John Rigg

John Rigg lost his seat as a borough councillor in 2023 but that has not stopped him being involved in Guildford affairs.

A former director of real estate company Savill’s, he is well-connected with developers and in his interview with Dragon editor Martin Giles, he reports on his attempt to get a new start for the former House of Fraser premises, currently a blot on Guildford’s High Street.

He is a strong advocate of the Masterplan Securing Guldford’s Future and the associated Flood Alleviation Scheme.

He explains his conviction that GBC’s July council meeting offers the chance to support a once in 126 year’s opportunity to give planning weight to the masterplan and to support the Flood Alleviation Scheme before it is lost.

And if that does not keep him busy enough, he has four times taken 4-wheel drive vehicles to Ukraine for conversion into front-line ambulances.
