Which candidate will you choose to support on July 4th?

Many of you might have already made up your minds but do you really know what the various candidates think about topical issues and concerns of the day?

To help your evaluation Dragon editor Martin Giles has interviewed each of the candidates in some depth to get their thoughts on five subjects. Similar questions were posed to each to help facilitate comparison. See what you make of their performances and policies…

The interviews were all recorded between June 7 and June 11. The sequence of publication was drawn by lot.

The first interview is with the Liberal Democrat candidate Zöe Franklin…

Zöe Franklin’s summary cv, as written by her at The Dragon’s request:

“Guildford has been my home for 25 years.

I have always been determined to make a difference, first serving as a councillor for Bellfields and Slyfield and I have continued to be a dedicated, determined campaigner for the last 15 years.

After 14 years of Conservative Government, and hearing so many people share their struggles of paying their bills, feeding and clothing their children, I am more driven than ever.

I have led campaigning against sewage dumping in the River Wey, and supported residents after Thames Water’s supply failures.

What drives me is the desire to be Guildford’s strong, independent-minded champion in Parliament.”

When an interviewer asks a straightforward question and the interviewee responds by mumbling and failing to provide a clear answer, it’s a red flag.
