This is poor journalism and would better be titled “Advert for the Vegan Society”.

Monica Lilley is a dogged campaigner and history will prove her cause to have been a just one. However, in my experience of speaking to her, she is highly confrontational and unable to justify her more extreme claims with any evidence.

She has been subject to a court restraining order preventing her from campaigning at a school and arrested on several occasions after demonstrating outside schools for 7-11 year olds. Such court orders are not handed down lightly and she was jailed for repeated breaches of this.

Hugh Coakley’s almost reverential way of discussing this was weak, as was the seamless linking of being banned by the management of Tunsgate with her being jailed. Would Hugh Coakley treat someone in the same soft way who had repeatedly breached an injunction preventing them from contacting their partner due to persistent harassment? I would hope not and nor should he have been so light on this occasion.

The Dragon is better than this.
