Dragon Interview: Wasfi Kani Grange Park Opera

Wasfi Kani OBE

By Martin Giles

Wasfi Kani is an impressive character. She needs to be. She is the driving force behind Grange Park Opera which has moved to its new home, a brand new opera house still being developed, at West Horsley Place, a beautiful Grade I listed mediaeval manor house and estate, with Saxon origins, currently on Historic England’s At Risk Register.

Grange Park Opera House

The Borough of Guildford must be one of the few to boast an Opera House. And this opera house is uniquely situated behind a venerable old listed building, next to an apple and pear orchard where one can enjoy a picnic before the performance.

Hear what Wasfi, who is also a conductor by the way, has to say about the opera’s new Surrey home and more…

I watched the Wasfi Kani of Grange Park Opera interview with interest. I never knew it existed until this year when our 8-year-old was chosen to perform in Oklahoma there. It is an amazing venue.
