Dragon NEWS Gets Over 798,000 Reader Hits in 2018

The Guildford Dragon NEWS had a fantastic 798,000 clicks on our articles and your letters this year – and we’re still counting.

With over 2,200 page hits per day and 20,000 unique visitors per month to the site, we must be doing something right. There have been more than 4.6 million reader views since the start nearly seven years ago in March 2012!

The Dragon NEWS is not The Times or BBC News. We don’t try to be. We are unashamedly local, exclusively covering the news of our town and borough, in that we are unique.

Our strap line is “Guildford news… for Guildford people, brought to you by Guildford reporters – Guildford’s own news service” and that’s exactly what we do.

Our resources are limited but we try hard to bring you Guildford’s news, as accurately and as honestly as we can, bearing in mind the motto in our Guildhall, “Be Just and Fear Not”.

But we could not do it without you our readers. Whether you send in news tip offs, contribute your perceptive letters and comments, answer our requests for quotes, send messages of encouragement or simply take the time to read our articles , THANK YOU!

Looking forward we know you are interested in all things Guildford and this includes shopping and business in the town centre. Some of most read articles are about shops. Waitrose coming to the town centre caused a stir as did a new butchers in town. An article on Ben’s Collector’s Records is in our all time “Top 20” for hits.

Hugh says: “More on retail and business in Guildford is what our readers want. Guildford town centre is still hugely successful and long may it continue.”

It’s fantastic to hear that you are still getting new readers. The Dragon NEWS allows everyone to comment and add any interesting items.

It is now the best way of us getting excellent local news, as the local weekly paper, which is supposed to be a Guildford edition, hardly has any news or items about Guildford. That is why people no longer buy it at £1.50 a copy.

We can always rely on The Guildford Dragon NEWS for local news which is both up to date, often items on line just after they have happened.

There are varied stories and articles. I enjoy the local history pieces too. I look forward to enjoying more in 2019. Keep up the good work Martin, David and the team. Wishing you another successful year.

Congratulations – few if any have done as much to establish a forum in Guildford that allows for comments comments and criticisms on local matters as well as supplying many excellent, diaries and reviews as The Guildford Dragon NEWS. Many thanks – keep it up.
