A car crashed into a stone garden wall early on Sunday morning (November 1st) injuring both the driver and his passenger and narrowly missing a pedestrian walking his dog.

The wall was reconstructed within recent years after an earlier collision.

The incident occurred just after 7am on the A3100 Portsmouth Road in St Catherine’s on the southern edge of Guildford.

Police officers were called to the scene and both the driver and the passenger in the black Vauxhall Corsa were taken to the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford where they were treated for their injuries.

The 19-year-old driver, who is from Bedford, was subsequently arrested for drink driving. He was interviewed and bailed, pending further enquiries, to return to Guildford police station on 10 December.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, or has any other information, is asked to contact Surrey Police on 101, quoting incident reference P1582363.
