From Val Dillon
Fairlands WI is in danger of closing if no volunteers for the posts of secretary and treasurer are forthcoming.
Sandra Morgan was instrumental in setting up Fairlands WI 50 years ago and is anxious that it should not disappear.
It was pointed out that it is not necessarily essential that volunteers should be experts in the use of computers as help can be given. We are all capable of managing our own finances and writing letters. If the matter cannot be resolved by mid-November Fairlands WI will cease to exist.
The September meeting started on a sombre note but the rest of the evening was thoroughly enjoyed as members checked out and tried on the garments and clothes accessories supplied by Faze 1 Fashions. Quite a few items were purchased and it was good to see things which may not be available in the shops.
In October there will be an open meeting when Andy Robertson-Shaw will talk about the making of the film War Horse. Family and friends are welcome to attend for a nominal charge of £2,
It was learned that Dawn Murrell, a past president, had suffered a heart attack recently and was in hospital. Jenny Page, the current president, will visit her and pass on our love and best wishes.
Meetings are generally held at Fairlands Community Centre on the second Wednesday of the month, starting at 8pm. Visitors to meetings are always welcome. To learn more contact Jenny Page, president, on 01483 538426 or Chris Humphries, secretary, on 01483 825953.
