Sam Talbot’s first league goal of the season brought Flames level before they added on a couple more to eventually secure their first win at Dundee Stars this season, thanks to a 3-1 success over the Scottish club.
Despite a 17-7 shot deficit for Stars, on Friday, they produced the only goal of the opening period with John Curran giving them a 1-0 lead at 14:34.
Talbot at the midway point levelled at a goal apiece, and Jack Jacome inside the period’s last three minutes put Flames in front to start the third period.
A little over 10 minutes from time, Flames expanded the difference thanks to Josh Nixon and then held on the rest of the way to guarantee the table points.
Justin Fazio turned away 19 of 20 shots against Emil Kruse who made 37 saves on 40 shots.
“We had not won in their building yet this season,” said assistant coach Andy Hemmings, “so it’s nice to come away from theirs with the points ahead of the seeing Stars again on Sunday [March 15] at home [6pm tonight at The Spectrum].”
