Early in overtime Charlie Curti buried the winner to turn a 34 save Justin Fazio performance into a win with a 3-2 success on the road at Glasgow Clan on Friday (November 21).
A 16th minute goal by Deven Sideroff was the only score in the opening set and Clan went to break holding that difference.
A little over seven minutes from second period time, Cole Ully scored against his former team to bring the visitors back to even terms and he added a second shortly after to put Spectrum’s men in front to begin the third period.
Just beyond the 45-minute mark, Clan knotted it at two each, thanks to Alex Forbes. This set the stage for the extra tie-breaking period where Curti won it 75 seconds after a three-on-three re-start.
Justin Fazio turned away 34 of 36 shots while the Clan’s Sami Aittokallio’s figures were 24 for 27.
“It was a great game by Justin to hold us in there,” said Paul Dixon, “and allow us to get some timely scoring, especially in overtime to take a valuable two points on a long road trip. We look forward to getting back to Guildford and hopefully can follow up against Belfast Giants on home ice.”
