Justin Fazio pitched a shutout, and Josh Waller had a couple of goals to lead the offensive charge as the Flames took a 4-0 home win over the visiting Coventry Blaze.

The first period yielded only a single goal, and it was a late period Josh Waller strike putting up a Flames lead through the opening set before a scoreless second sent Spectrum’s men to the final break of regulation still holding the slim lead.

Less than two minutes into the third period, while shorthanded, Tyler Busch gave his side a bit of breathing room with the 2-0 goal.  Inside the back 10 minutes, Flames went to a lengthy 5 on 3 powerplay with a chance to salt the game away, but Blaze steered it aside with no further damage.

However, Waller did put the game out of reach 57:31 and a literal last second powerplay goal by Jack Jacome completed the scoresheet data.

Fazio was perfect on all 27 shots. Dershahn Stewart made 31 saves on 33 shots before his late injury replacement Joel Bearman turned away 1 of 3 he faced in the dying minutes.

“We had a pretty solid effort,” said Andrew Hemmings, “and despite how the score ended, it was feeling a bit light on goals, so it was nice to see some go in during the 3rd period to put some distance between us and Blaze.”
