A former Surrey Police officer has today (Tuesday, 26 February) appeared in court on 58 charges of offences relating to fraud.
Tanya Brookes, nee Sillett, 45, appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates Court after being summonsed in relation to the offences on 8 February.
She is next due to appear at Winchester Crown Court on Tuesday, 12 March.
Following initial enquiries, former Chief Inspector
Sillett, who was based at Guildford, and a second senior Surrey Police officer were arrested in January 2012 and subsequently suspended from duty.
The second officer arrested in connection with the investigation will not face any criminal proceedings but will remain suspended from duty until the conclusion of an internal investigation being carried out by the Force’s Professional Standards Department.
