Voluntary Action South West Surrey has teamed up with Vodafone UK via its charities.connected initiative, to tackle digital exclusion across the boroughs of Guildford and Waverley.
It has been donated 400 sim cards, loaded with 20GB data a month, plus free phone calls and text messages, for six months.
These are available for organisations, charities, and so on, to give to individuals and families they help, so as to help people access online services.
The scheme also aims to provide digital skills for organisations’ employees and volunteers, and to help support refugees.
Vodafone’s charities.connected initiative is part of its commitment to tackle digital exclusion and connect one million people by the end of 2022.
Organisations who would like some free sim cards can email Voluntary Action south West Surrey at info@vasws.org.uk to make arrangements to collect the sim cards from Voluntary Action’s office at 39 Castle Street, Guildford GU1 3UQ.
