Incident in High Street – Man Found Unresponsive

4.30pm – Surrey Police have updated their report of an incident in the town centre this morning.

The police statement said: “Following a concern for safety, a man in his 20s was found unresponsive in the area of Leapale Road, at around 2am this morning (July 10).

“Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the man was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time.

“We appreciate that the large police presence in the area may have caused distress and concern amongst local residents, and we would like to reassure you that an investigation into the circumstances of the death is underway.

“At this stage, we do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances and we are not seeking any other people in relation to the incident. Our enquiries remain ongoing. Leapale Road has now reopened.”

10 am – Surrey Police reported that they were called to a concern for safety in Guildford High Street just before 3am this morning (July 10).

Officers were said to be “still on scene” at 7.45am with a significant emergency services presence.

The police asked people to avoid Leapale Road and Leapale Road Car Park, which was temporarily closed.
