Marie_Curie_primary_logoHaving a will brings peace of mind that your affairs are in order and your family’s future secured.

If you’re aged 55 or over, you can now get your will written for free up to April 30, 2016, thanks to Marie Curie’s partnership with solicitors in and around Guildford.

The Marie Curie free will writing scheme offers people the opportunity to have a new basic will written or an existing will amended, with the option to include a gift to support the charity’s work in the future.

Will writing specialists at each of the partnership solicitors are on hand to offer advice and support under this scheme, which offers a limited amount of free wills on a first-come first served basis.

Although there is no obligation to leave a gift to the charity, Marie Curie hope that if you do decide to go through the scheme that you will use it to settle your own affairs and at the same time, support Marie Curie’s work.

A will written by a solicitor is the best way to ensure that your family, friends and favourite charities will benefit exactly as you would wish.

Statistics produced by the Law Society of England and Wales show that roughly two-thirds of people over the age of 50 do not have an up-to-date will.

Marie Curie’s hope is that this scheme will encourage people to consider getting a will written. It’s so easy to put off until tomorrow things that we should really do today. Having a will written is one of those incredibly important jobs on so many “to do” lists.

Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end of life care charity providing free nursing care to people with a terminal illness, either in their own home or in one its nine hospices. The Marie Curie Nursing service provides free home nursing care to people living with a terminal illness, 365 days a year.

The charity is also a leader in research into the best ways of caring for people with a terminal illness. It also designs and advises on end of life services and works to ensure that the best possible care and patient choice is at the heart of commissioning end of life care across the UK.

All Marie Curie services are free of charge.
