Join me, David Rose, on a history walk around Worplesdon on Saturday, September 21, as part of the Fairlands Festival of Fun day.

My walk start at 10am from the Fairlands Community Centre. It will take it part of the common at Fairlands, through Merrist Wood to Perry Hill. There we will be meeting local resident Geoff Burch who will show us some history of the houses on the green.

We then walk up to St Mary’s Church where out tour guide will be Anthony Hillard. The walk will continue from the church passing the house Marylands, back across the Worplesdon Road, then making our way back to the community centre stopping in front of Roker’s Farm where the focus will be on the Quaker burial site that was once hereabouts.

The walk cost s £3, and all funds raised on the day will go to support the centre. Place are limited with just a few left. Book by calling fun day organiser Sheila Willis on 01483 234667, or email her at sheilawillis@hotmail.co.uk
