The skilled winner was John Uwins, who was taking part in Puttenham Golf Club’s PGA South Region Pro-Am Tournament on September 19.

Ninety-two golfers took part in the fifth annual tournament, sponsored by Books etc.

Mr Uwins, of Cranleigh Golf Club, produced the magical shot on the 176-yard, par 3, 18th hole – the hole that the prize car was offered for. It had been offered for the past four years of the tournament, but with no golfer achieving the feat.

His prize, a brand new Mitsubishi Mirage Car, donated by Normandy Garage.

Mr Uwins said after his round: “I hit a perfectly struck 8 iron that landed at the front of the green and rolled down towards the flag before disappearing into the hole. It was an amazing moment.”
