Summer is almost upon us and plans are well and truly under way for this year’s Guildford Fringe Festival, which takes place from July 1 to 27.

Guildford Fringe logoLast year saw the first-ever Guildford Fringe Festival and, during the month of July, Guildford Fringe staged at least one event each night. The festival is an open access multi-arts festival which includes plays, musical theatre, stand-up comedy, debate groups, movie nights, cabarets, quiz nights, music, art exhibitions and even burlesque, to name just a few genres!

In 2013 all events took place in the home of Guildford Fringe, the Back Room of the Star Inn in Quarry Street. In July this year though they will be popping up in a total of nine venues in Guildford including the Bellerby Studio, G Live, the Keep pub, the Keystone pub, The Back Room, the Electric Theatre, Bar Des Arts, Boileroom, Wintershall Estate and Clandon Wood Natural Burial Reserve.

Guildford Fringe Festival Director Nick Wyschna said: “We were really finding our feet at last year’s festival, but it flew by without a hitch thanks to the wonderful and talented acts involved.

“We’d like more of the same for 2014 please! It is truly looking like a superb event and with the support from our headline sponsor Experience Guildford it is growing by the day.”

With such a wide variety of events going on during the month of July, many of which are free, there really is something for everyone.

The Guildford Fringe team is always looking for volunteer ushers and stewards and if you are interested in being involved either email them at or call on 01483 361101.
