The convivial surroundings of the recently refurbished Guildford Institute in Ward Street was the scene for a tribute concert to the late folk singer Jake Thackray by local musician Andy Johnson.
Andy has been a regular contributor to the Guildford folk music scene for many years and this time played to a capacity audience.
He delighted them with authentic renditions of Thackray classics such as Sister Josephine, Country Bus and La di Dah.
Although the originals were played on the guitar, Andy chose the piano as his accompaniment and it transcribed remarkably well, leaving plenty of space for the lyrics to amuse the crowd.
After a rousing encore Andy vowed to return soon with a further tribute to Jake Thackray and another to Flanders and Swan.
