Five local writers will be showcasing their work at an event highlighting the art of short story writing during the Guildford Book Festival, which runs from October 6-20.

“Short Story Showcase” will take place on Thursday, October 17, at Zero, 168 High Street, from 7pm-9pm.

The five writers will read from their works and take part in a discussion about short story writing.

One of the featured authors, award-winning writer Alice Fowler, said: “Short stories are perfect to read aloud as they pack so much within a small word count.

“Writing them myself for several years now, I’ve been very pleased to meet several fellow short story writers, who also live in or around Guildford. It’s been a long-held dream to hold an event where these accomplished writers could come together and share their work.
