Guildford Drink Drivers Among 186 Arrests in Police Christmas Campaign

A total of 186 motorists were arrested in Surrey Police’s annual Christmas crackdown on drink and drug driving.

They include Craig Deeprose, 34, of White Wood Vale, Frimley, found slumped over the wheel of his car early on December 7 with the engine running, on Old Bisley Road in Camberley.

He tried to tell officers he was about to drive home. His car was also littered with cans of alcohol some opened. Tests showed a blood-alcohol level of 207mg, the legal limit is 80mg. At Guildford Magistrates’ Court, he was disqualified for 36 months, ordered to pay £85 in costs and £95 in victim surcharge with 100 hours of unpaid work

Of all drivers held during the month-long campaign, 18 have been convicted, including one from Guildford. The rest are either still under charge, being investigated or released without charge.

Eight of those convicted are:

Brad Appleton, 24, of Mill Road, Hillingdon, who was arrested on Abbots Way, Chertsey, on December 20, and charged with drink driving. At Staines Magistrates’ Court, he was disqualified for 12 months, ordered to attend a driving course, fined £150 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £34 in victim surcharge.

The others appeared before Guildford magistrates. Aaron Kentell, 31, of Ockford Ridge, Godalming, was arrested on Franklyn Road, on December 13. He was disqualified for 24 months, ordered to pay £85 in costs and £95 in victim surcharge, with 80 hours of unpaid work.

Yusuf Rimdap, 38, of Albury Road, Guildford, who was arrested on the same road on December 21. He was disqualified for 23 months, fined £634, and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £63 in victim surcharge.

Andrii Tahaciok, 51, of Riverside, Horley, who was arrested on Balcombe Road on 20 December. He was disqualified for 25 months, fined £400, and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £40 in victim surcharge.

Scott Warner, 27, of Nelson Close, Walton-on-Thames, who was arrested in Cobham, on December 18, was disqualified for 24 months, ordered to pay £85 in costs and £95 in victim surcharge, with 120 hours of unpaid work.

Natalie Treadaway, 42, of Raleigh Drive, Horley, who was arrested on Godstone Road, Whyteleafe, on December 22. She was disqualified for 14 months, fined £207, ordered to pay £85 in costs and £34 in victim surcharge.

Gregg Barnes, 48, of Woodlands Way, Ashtead, who was arrested on Reigate Road in Epsom, on December 3, after driving erratically. He was charged with failure to provide a specimen for analysis, disqualified 30 months, given 220 hours of community service and ordered to pay £85 in costs and £95 in victim surcharge.

Calin Tiron, 33, of Elston Road, Aldershot, who was arrested on Broadmead Road in Woking, on December 5, was disqualified for 12 months, fined £500, ordered to pay £85 in costs and £50 in victim surcharge.
