Guildford Flies The Flag To Commemorate UK’s Armed Forces

Guildford honoured the UK’s Armed Forces on Monday (June 24) at noon with a flag-raising ceremony at the Guildhall in the High Street.

Officials at the ceremony on the balcony of the Guildhall included: The Deputy Colonel The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, Patrick Crowley; the Mayor of Guildford, Richard Billington; a local veteran and Chelsea Pensioner; Royal Grammar School cadet Alex Norris; along with the rector of Holy Trinity and St Mary’s Churches, the Revd Robert Cotton; and a bugler.

The mayor said: “I am delighted to be taking part in the flag raising ceremony. It is an important gesture that shows our appreciation for the contributions the Armed Forces have made for us.

“The people of Guildford are very proud of our Armed Forces with many regimental families and veterans living within Surrey. Guildford will continue to raise awareness for the pivotal role of our Armed Forces.”
