Robin’s Wood is your stereotypical pantomime. Except for the fact that no children are allowed in – it’s full of rudeness and it’s in the back room of a pub.
Guildford Fringe Theatre Company’s adult panto will run from Thursday to Saturday, December 1 to 31 in The Back Room of the Star Inn, Quarry Street, Guildford.
“I am thrilled to announce bookings are now open for this year’s adult panto, one of my favorite productions of the year,” said Nick Wyschna, artistic director of Guildford Fringe.
“Christmas isn’t just for kids, it’s for big kids too. I love watching the audience’s reaction when they come in to see the adult panto. They don’t know quite what to expect but slowly lose all their inhibitions and really embrace the hilarious experience.”
Robin’s Wood is written by West End star Scott Garnham who has appeared in shows such as Les Miserable, Made in Dagenham and Billy Elliot.
While following the familiar story-line of Robin Hood’s escapades wooing Maid Marion and robbing the rich to give to the poor, this version is anything but traditional.
Nick added: “We are one of the first fringe theatre companies outside London committed to paying our actors a set wage rather than just guaranteeing a share of the profits at the end of the production. This has always been my goal and I am delighted that that the first production for this new contract will be Robin’s Wood.”
Evening shows will be at 8pm and Saturday matinées at 3pm. There will be no shows on Sundays or on December 24, 25 or 26. Advanced bookings are advised. Tickets are priced at £17.50 (concessions £16.50). For more information and to purchase tickets visit www.GuildfordFringe.com or call 0333 666 3366 (fees apply).
