The Guildford Institute has launched its summer brochure and is set to celebrate the Queen’s platinum jubilee with an exciting programme of more than 70 events and activities, marking 70 years of the Queen’s reign.

Coinciding with this special occasion, a number of the Institute’s activities will be focused around the theme of ‘Rulers, Rebels and Revelry’.

Discover The History of Royal Fashion, examine Power and Rulers in art, explore 70 Years of Poetry, and much more.

The Institute’s celebrations will culminate in a platinum jubilee party on Monday, May 30.

Its varied offering will continue to grow with the addition of food and wine to the programme. Be transported to foreign lands with a summer wine tasting workshop with local expert Jeremy Blood.

Join Anna Cafaro for her online course on Italian food, complete with the option to cook along and learn how to make traditional regional recipes.

This term will also see the return of philosophy to the programme, with new tutor Darren Harper joining the team.

There will be a wide variety of visits and events on offer: enjoy the spectacular display of spring flowers at Ramster Hall and Garden, join Guildford’s Town Guides for their brand new Alice in Wonderland Walking Tour, or venture further afield with a coach trip to Royal Holloway.

This term’s brochure cover, Mantis, is by Surrey artist Charlotte Allum. Specialising in fluid art, she creates modern, powerful and bold abstract paintings.

The manager of the Guildford Institute, Amy Rice, said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer a programme of activities with such an upbeat, celebratory feel this term!

“It’s incredibly positive to be able to start running our coach trips once again and we’re particularly looking forward to our Queen’s jubilee party this summer, which will offer a good cause for us to be social once again.”

The summer term will run from April 22 to July 28. Advance booking for all Institute activities is essential. To order a free copy of the Institute’s summer brochure, call 01483 562142 or email info@guildford-institute.org.uk.
