Guildford Lido is set to welcome swimmers back for the summer season, with an opening date of Saturday, April 26.
Freedom Leisure, the not-for-profit leisure trust that manages the Lido on behalf of Guildford Borough Council, said it was “looking forward to another exciting season”.
Finley Broekhuizen, the new Lido manager, said: “I am incredibly excited for my first summer season at Guildford Lido. This is such a special place and I cannot wait to welcome both returning visitors and new swimmers to enjoy everything the Lido has to offer.”
Emma Beavis, Freedom Leisure’s Area Manager in Guildford, said the team had been working hard behind the scenes to get the Lido ready for the summer.
Over the years, Guildford Lido – which opened in 1933 – has become a hub for both recreational and fitness swimming. Since 2010, dedicated lane swimming sessions have expanded significantly. These sessions have grown from just 11 hours per week to 29 hours per week of unrestricted lane swimming in 2025.
Cllr Catherine Houston, the council’s Lead for Commercial Services, said: “We’re looking forward to another wonderful summer season of outdoor swimming at the Guildford Lido. This beautiful 50m pool is now over 90 years old, but each year it continues to give residents and visitors to Guildford weeks and weeks of outdoor enjoyment. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another fun filled and busy summer season.”
Season tickets go on sale from April 1 at https://www.guildfordlido.co.uk.
