Miguel Cavaller receives his police commendation at an awards ceremony at Surrey Police Headquarters

A member of the public, Miguel Cavaller, who lives in Guildford, has received a police commendation for his quick thinking and prompt actions that helped to save a man’s life in Guildford.

On  November 28th 2011 Mr Caveller was walking to his car after finishing his shift at Wetherspoons  when he saw a man climbing on to the roof of the Casino nightclub, in Onslow Street. in Guildford and raised the alarm with staff in the nightclub.

As he returned to the car park area he saw the man had fallen 30 feet from the roof and and was laying unconscious on the ground.

Mr Caveller gave the man first aid until the emergency services arrived at the scene. The injured man was taken to St George’s Hospital in Tooting for further treatment. He has now made a full recovery.
