A new runner finished first in Guildford’s weekly Parkrun on Saturday, December 21. There was fancy dress and home-made mince pies, as parkrunners donated £97 to Disability Challengers.

Men’s placings:
Jake WIGHTMAN (JM15-19) of Edinburgh AC, was first over the line in 17:15 – first appearance.
Thomas GRIFFITHS (SM30-34) (unattached) was second over the line in 17:44.
John SANDERSON (SM20-24) of Guildford & Godalming AC, was third over the line in 18:41.

Current standing in the men’s annual points competition:
Daniel Peter HEFFERNAN (unattached) 3,180 pts.
David WOODCOCK (unattached) 2,676 pts.
Andrew FLANAGAN (unattached) 2,483 pts.

Women’s placings:
Katherine PHILP (VW35-39) of Garden City Runners, was first (15th overall) over the line in 21:09 – 9th time in 10 appearances.
Susan WIGHTMAN (VW50-54) (unattached) was second (20th overall) over the line in 21:52.
Hannah MORRIS (JW15-19) of Dorking & Mole Valley AC, was third (22nd overall) over the line in 21:54 – was first to finish once before.

Current standing in the women’s annual points competition:
Susanne BARNES (Woking AC) 3,439 pts.
Julia BONILLA (unattached) 2,890 pts.
Susanna HARRISON (Woking AC) 2,626 pts.

The following runners recorded the best age grade scores:
Chris FINILL (VM50-54) was graded 79.69% for the time 19:07 (5th overall).
Susan WIGHTMAN (VW50-54) was graded 79.65% for the time 21:52 (20th overall).
Jake WIGHTMAN (JM15-19) was graded 76.43% for the time 17:15 (first overall).

This week there were 149 runners, of whom 15 were first timers and seven recorded new personal bests. Representatives of 23 different athletics clubs took part.

Guildford Parkrun started on March 10, 2012, and since then 2,591 different runners, including participants from 174 athletics clubs, have completed 11,291 runs covering a total distance of 56,455 km, and there have been 2,465 new personal bests.

The women’s record is held by Katherine PHILP who ran in a time of 00:18:46 on May 18, 2013, (event number 60).
The men’s record is held by Tom ALDRED who ran in a time of 00:15:30 on April 7, 2012, (event number 5).
The age grade course record is held by Jane DAVIES who recorded a 90.41% run (22:25) on April 27, 2013 (event number 57).
