Letter: Guildford Seems to Agree – We Need More Social Housing

vice-chair of Guildford Labour

It has been heartening to see so many articles in The Guildford Dragon recently, from across a spectrum of Guildford residents, in support of more social housing.

With so many building projects in the centre and out of town too, there seems to be a genuine consensus that this needs to be a part of the mix.

But in order to do so we need to elect representatives who will take this forward.  We know that the current administration of Liberal Democrats and Residents for Guildford & Villages are not interested as there is barely any, in fact none, included in any of their recent plans.

So this is an appeal to everyone in Guildford to support Labour for a clear policy of increasing social housing in Guildford thereby making it a welcome place for everyone.

The Labour Party in Guildford was complicit in the Local Plan. It voted for it!

Sadly, Labour support for the Mansbridge /Juneja build, build, build scheme was devoid of competent analysis.

The Conservative Local Plan in Guildford was not an honest appraisal of the facts or a relevant solution. But the Labour Party blindly followed it.
