Guildford Snippets – Do You Know? No.13

The brilliant sunny summer this year is a wonderful time to check out the various sundials in the parks and on the buildings of the town centre.

Millennium Sundial at its original site in Westnye Gardens.

One of the most accurate of these, the Millenium Sundial was installed in Westnye Gardens in 2005. Unfortunately it was damaged by vandals and had to be removed by the council for safe-keeping.

It has now been reinstalled somewhere else in the town centre and my question this week is where is it now located?

If you know the answer, please leave a reply in the box below. The answer will be given in a week’s time with the next Guildford question.

You can find out more about Guildford’s art and artists in the guided walk that will start at Tunsgate Arch at 2.30pm on Tuesday, July 31.

The answer to last week’s question was that was that Frank Apted, a prosperous trader based in Guildford House, who was actually an ardent supporter of the strongly developing Temperance Movement in Guildford. bought the George and Dragon pub’s licence to extinguish it and thus force the closure of the pub.
