Guildford has been chosen to host this year’s Pride in Surrey celebration event at Stoke Park on Saturday, September 21.
There will be a parade up the High Street, leading attendees to the park.
Guildford Borough Council says it is honoured to be hosting the event, adding the celebration “promises to be a spectacular showcase of LGBTQ+ culture and heritage from across Surrey”.
It will include a diverse array of activities and entertainment for people of all ages, with live music, performances and food vendors.
The chief executive of Pride in Surrey, Charlie Watts, said: “Each year we anticipate a significant economic boost to our host town on Pride Day.
“With a yearly average of £350,000 being generated on the day of the event, we’re not only celebrating diversity and inclusion but also supporting local businesses and showcasing all that Guildford has to offer.”
Tickets are available via the Pride in Surrey website and are offered on a “pay what you can basis”.

This is wonderful news for Guildford. The economic impact of events like Pride in Surrey is considerable, with estimates in the region of £300,000, thanks to increased spend in local shops, hotels and eating places.
Well done Guildford Borough Council for attracting Pride in Surrey to the town, it’s great to see events like Pride, and Guilfest coming to Stoke Park.
