Andertons Music Co, with its store in Woodbridge Road, Guildford, has scooped two top, world-wide music instrument industry awards.
It has been given the 2018 National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) award for Dealer of the Year and the award for Best Online Engagement.
In terms of music retailers around the world, the Dealer of the Year award is the most widely recognised award within the music instrument industry, and is competed for globally by thousands of retailers. It is the first time it has been awarded to a dealership outside of the USA.
Andertons’ managing partner is Lee Anderton, whose father and grandfather founded the family business in 1964. He said: “Whilst the heart of our business has remained in Guildford, our global reach and reputation has really taken off over the last 10 years.
“To be recognised as number one by the biggest music industry trade association in the world is simply incredible. I’m so proud of the people at Andertons – every one of them strives to be the best they can be, and they’ve all played a big part in winning these awards.”
It’s probably a fact that every musician in the Guildford area who plays rock, pop and modern music has shopped at Andertons at some stage. It has a huge range of guitars, from models for beginners to the very best you can buy; as well as keyboards, drums, amplifiers, PA, recording equipment and accessories.
The NAMM was established as far back as 1901. It is a not-for-profit association that supports the $17 billion global music, sound and event technology products industry.
In fact, Andertons is the only company in Europe to feature in this year’s NAMM top 100 list.
And it is the second year running that it has won NAMM’s Best Online Engagement award.
Andertons TV is a You Tube channel. Its videos regularly feature and review latest instruments and equipment as well as featuring some top guitarists playing them!
It has surpassed 100 million views and is free to subscribe to. Musicians must be finding it really useful as it has 486,460 subscribers.

Loving the Youtube channel too.
