Guildford’s first night bus was launched in a flurry of balloons and lollipops by the University of Surrey and the its Students’ Union, in association with Arriva on Thursday last week..
The initiative was spearheaded by the Students’ Union’s vice-president welfare, Munya Mudarikiri, who explains the purpose of the service is to “…allow students to get home quickly and safely after a night out and (would provide an) easy and value for money solution for students.”
The first bus ride was well attended by students following their night out, as well as a number of representatives from the university and the Students’ Union. The bus took its inaugural trip at 1am from Guildford bus station, and was attend by Students’ Union president Maz Hussien, and fellow union staff Matt Sadlers, vice-president education; Munya Mudarikiri, vice-president welfare; Dan Jacobs, vice-president sports and recreation; Mustie Smith, vice-president societies and individual development; Katie Sawyer, community officer; Alan Sutherland, CEO; and the university’s James Newby, director of business support and traded services, and its business support manager, Karen Smith.
The service will run on Wednesdays and Fridays from 1am to 2am (3am on Fridays) and will serve Stag Hill, Manor Park, Park Barn, Hazel Farm, before returning to Guildford town centre. The service is open to all; it is covered by the annual student bus pass, and for those without passes, fares can be purchased on the bus.

I think you will find that Arriva ran late-night buses on a Friday and Saturday nights to get party goers home from the town centre.
This was a few years ago, but I do not remember where exactly the buses ran to.
