Could You Get Free Bus Travel?

Whether you’re visiting family and friends, attending appointments or enjoying a day out, a free Surrey bus pass could help you travel more easily and save money along the way.

Surrey residents who are of State Pension age, or who meet certain disability criteria, can apply for a concessionary bus pass, giving them free travel on local bus services anywhere in England.

The pass is valid from 9.30am to 11pm on weekdays and at any time on weekends and public holidays, making it easier to stay active, independent and connected to your community.

Could you be eligible?

If you live in Surrey and have reached State Pension age, you may qualify for an older person’s bus pass. You can apply up to 28 days before becoming eligible.

Disabled Surrey residents aged five and above, up to State Pension age, may also be entitled to a bus pass if they meet one of the qualifying disability criteria. This includes people with severe mobility difficulties, sensory impairments, learning disabilities and certain medical conditions that affect their ability to drive.

Applying is simple

There are two easy ways to apply:

Online
Most applications can be verified online in around a minute. If this isn’t possible, you can securely upload proof of your age and residency using a smartphone, tablet or computer.

At your local library
If you’d like some support, library staff can help complete your application, take your photograph and submit your documents for you. Simply book an appointment and bring the required information with you.

Applications are usually assessed within 15 working days, and successful applicants will receive their pass in the post.
