Enhancing Your Community This Festive Season

We are taking action to make Surrey’s streets, footpaths, and public spaces cleaner, safer, and more welcoming for everyone. Our dedicated teams are working hard on improvements that benefit both residents and visitors, ensuring our county continues to be a place we can all enjoy and take pride in.

Here’s what we’ve achieved so far during December:

  • Refreshed over 150 roads: enhancing the daily journeys of residents and visitors alike
  • 18.4 km of weeds and overgrown vegetation cleared: Restoring tidy, accessible spaces for our communities
  • 112 km of roadside hedges trimmed: Ensuring better visibility and improving roadside safety
  • 83 drain channels cleaned: reducing the risk of local flooding and improving drainage
  • 505 road signs repaired and cleaned: keeping everyone informed and improving navigation across Surrey
  • 227 railings and bollards cleaned and freshly painted: refreshing our public spaces for a welcoming look
  • 13.3 km of footway edges cleared and defined: providing safer, cleaner pathways for all.

These efforts directly contribute to the quality of life in Surrey, making our roads safer, our walkways more accessible, and our neighbourhoods more attractive. By addressing overgrowth, improving drainage, and refreshing key infrastructure, we’re creating more enjoyable community areas.

We’re committed to keeping Surrey at its best, and the Spring Clean is just one part of our ongoing effort to enhance the spaces that connect and serve our communities. Whether you’ve noticed tidier roads, clearer pathways, or brighter public spaces, this work is all about making a positive difference where it matters most.

Thank you for your continued patience during this time and from all of us at Surrey Highways, we wish you a safe and happy festive season.
