Expansion of popular on-demand bus service
Elmbridge is the latest area in Surrey to benefit from the county council’s on-demand bus service, Surrey connect. From February 16, residents have been able to use the service to get from A to B if a current local bus service is not available.
The well-used and popular service is already operating in other areas of the county including Tandridge, Farnham, Cranleigh, West Guildford, Longcross, Runnymede, Haslemere, Mole Valley and Reigate, to help residents travel sustainably.
The expansion is funded by Surrey County Council to improve access to sustainable travel in areas of the county where there are fewer bus services.
Matt Furniss, Cabinet member for Transport, Infrastructure and Economy said: “We launched Surrey connect five years ago in Mole Valley and have continued to invest and develop this service, helping residents travel sustainably.
“In 2025 alone, over 97,000 passenger journeys were made using Surrey connect, helping residents who may have previously been isolated or heavily car dependent.
“This expansion is part of our significant investment in bus travel and our efforts to encourage more people to use Surrey’s buses. We’re investing in making our buses greener including £32.3 million for more ultra-low and zero emission buses and £6.3m for more ultra-low and zero emission community transport minibuses.”
Buses run Monday to Friday from 7am to 7pm and on Saturdays from 8am to 6pm. Journeys can be booked with 30 minutes notice or up to 7 days in advance. Fares are charged based on how many miles are travelled starting from £2 for adults.
Journeys can be booked:

I cannot understand why there is no Connect bus service directly between Wonersh and Godalming When the existing bus service ceased, it was assumed the Connect bus would serve this route. Enquiries to Surrey CC have not given a reason for this lack. I only hope when we have the new unity authorities this problem will be addressed.
