Shape the future of the A22 and A264 in Surrey and West Sussex
Surrey County Council and West Sussex County Council are inviting residents, commuters and local businesses to help shape early proposals for transport improvements along the A22 and A264 corridor between Godstone, Copthorne and East Grinstead.
The councils are exploring opportunities to make travel in the area safer, more reliable and better connected – whether by car, bus, bike or on foot. By gathering feedback from those who live in, work in or travel through the corridor, the project aims to ensure future improvements reflect the needs and priorities of the community.
We are considering a range of improvements to encourage walking, cycling and public transport use, while keeping traffic moving. These proposals could include:
These proposals support the ambitions of the Surrey Transport Plan and West Sussex Transport Plan, which promote sustainable travel, safer roads and economic growth.
Matt Furniss, cabinet member for Highways, Transport and Economic Growth at Surrey County Council, said: “This is an important opportunity to shape how people travel in and around the Godstone to East Grinstead area. We’re looking at a range of practical improvements to help ease congestion, improve safety and support more reliable journeys – whether by car, bus, bike or on foot.”
“Your feedback will help us ensure the proposals reflect local priorities and deliver read benefits for everyday travel. I encourage everyone who lives, works or travels through the area to take part in the engagement period and help shape the next steps.”
Interested parties can share their views by completing an online survey between 12 November and 23 December 2025.
