Video footage of a man being punched in the face in Guildford in September 2018 has been released by police trying to identify those responsible. After a previous appeal with CCTV images of three people officers want to talk to the video footage is an attempt to jog people’s memories.

The 19-year-old victim was walking on Woodbridge Road on Tuesday, September 11 about 3am when he was approached by three unknown men. One man punched the victim in the face, causing grievous bodily harm, the victim requiring surgery on his jaw. The three men made off towards Church Road.

The men in the footage are all aged about 20 and described as:
White, 6ft tall and wearing a black hoodie, jeans and white trainers;
White, about 6ft tall, wearing a long-sleeved white t-shirt and black trousers; and
White, about 6ft tall, wearing a white t-shirt, jeans and carrying a small shoulder bag.

Investigating officer PC Kieran Coffey said: “We have released the video footage as it highlights how just one punch can cause serious injury and have devastating consequences. The victim had to have a plate inserted in his jaw following the assault and we are really keen to bring his attackers to justice.

“He did not know any of these men and was walking home after a night out. I am hoping that releasing the video footage will prompt someone into coming forward.”

    Sickening. It might have killed the victim.

    I wish DC Coffey every success in bringing these thugs to justice.

    But why has it taken so long to release this video?
