The emergency services are dealing with an incident today (Friday, October 3) on the lines between Guildford to Waterloo.
Although the incident location is not specifically identified it is said to be “between Wimbledon and Effingham Junction / Hampton Court / Woking” which indicates it is somewhere near Surbiton.
The National Rail statement says: “Whilst the emergency services carry out their work, all lines between these stations are closed. Trains running between these stations may be cancelled, severely delayed by up to 100 minutes or revised.
Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.
At 1544 response teams were said to be on their way to site and that in order to allow emergency services access to the railway all power to the track needed to be switched off in the affected area. It is not yet known when the lines are expected to reopen.
The Newtork Rail website states: “Due to the level of disruption to your journey, passengers are now able to source their own taxis between London Waterloo – Woking – Guildford – Salisbury and claim them back through the South Western Railway website.”

Does anyone know how those of us affected by this are supposed to claim the cost of taxis from SWR? I can’t see anything about it on their website despite the statement above.
