“Capturing an image gives a lasting memory for future generations.” So says Suki Lowres one of a group of Surrey photographers who are holding their second exhibition during October at the Harvey Road Gallery, Guildford.
This year they have included friends who are local crafts people, who make and design their own jewellery, pottery and textiles.
Calling themselves Pix ’n’ Mix, the group of photo enthusiasts held their first exhibition in October 2014 and decided to make this an annual arts and crafts event.
The exhibition, called ‘Inspirations’, opened at the gallery on Monday, October 12, and runs until Friday, October 23 (10.30am-3.30pm weekdays, 10am-12pm Saturday, closed Sunday). Entry is free. Some of the proceeds will be given to The Fountain Centre, the charity for cancer patients, their families and carers based in the St Luke’s cancer unit at the Royal Surrey Hospital, Guildford.
Most members of the group are staff or volunteers at the Guildford Adult & Community Learning Centre in Sydenham Road.
One of the group, Suki Lowres, said: “I’m a lover of the arts, especially sculpture, and this is reflected in some of my photos. I live in Guildford and sit on the Guildford in Bloom Committee, which is something I feel passionate about. I really enjoy photography and always make sure I have my camera with me.”

This exhibition is certainly worth the walk up the hill! Some fantastic talent here – ‘Inspirations’ is an apt title.
