Merrow Village Bowling Club invites people to “come and play bowls” on Sunday, May 8, at its green behind Merrow Village Hall and Social Club, on the Epsom Road.

Pictured from left by the club’s splendid new sign: club chairman David Matthews, secretary Brian Taylor, member and local artist David Raison who painted the sign, and club president Tony Oldland.
Members and the club coaches will be on hand from 10am to noon and 2pm to 4pm to welcome both existing bowlers and those who have not tried the game before, but who would like to have a go.
The sessions are free and can be followed by a course of four further sessions at times to suit in the following days or weeks.
The club is particularly keen to encourage new female bowlers to join its existing ladies group.
A club spokesman said: “A number of Fairlands residents currently play at Merrow, so why not come and join them, make new friends and find out that there is much more to the game than may at first seem.”
The club stress that enjoyment of the game is the main aim, and it play friendly matches at weekends throughout the summer, against other local clubs.
