Guildford Kidical Mass’ next bicycle ride is taking place on Sunday, September 24, to coincide with Guildford’s Car Free Day.
This will be a slow-paced, marshalled community bike ride designed for riders of all ages and all abilities, although children must be accompanied by a grown-up.
The ride will start on the green by G Live at 10.45am and end at Allen House Grounds.
The route is around 2.3 miles long.
Guildford Borough Council is providing additional bike parking at the Allen House tennis courts for Car Free Day.
These rides are organised to demonstrate the need and demand for better cycling infrastructure so children can cycle safely.
Lizzi Jordan, gold and bronze medallist at the UCI Para-Cycling Track World Championship and Guildford resident, will be supporting the ride on her tandem.
She said: “Cycling has changed my life, it’s made me healthier.
“I’ve made new friends and I want younger children to have the same opportunity.
“Road safety is incredibly important for all cyclists regardless of age and ability.
“We need to ensure these children feel safe and confident to use our roads whether it’s for sport or as a means of transport.
“I personally use the roads a lot for my endurance training, and using the roads with a disability means I need to put even more trust into other road users and the infrastructure.”
