Today (Wednesday, December 14) is the last chance to visit the Keep Guildford Warm Clothes Bank shop unit, that has been open for a short period this year at the Friary shopping centre.
In November the Friary linked up with Guildford Action (the drop-in day centre for homeless people and rough sleepers) to help people in need wrap up warm this winter.
People were invited to donate their “pre-loved” items of winter clothing and the shopping centre team were overwhelmed by the generosity receiving more than 1,000 items.
The shop looks like any other clothing store, but has one distinct difference – there are no price tags!
It has been accessible to anyone who needs help to stay warm.
And it has been managed by the staff at the Friary who have volunteered their time to sort and display the clothes and to manage it.
The chief executive of Guildford Action, Joanne Tester, said: “I am astounded at the generosity of the public who have donated so many items. To know that we have residents who care gives me huge hope for the coming months when we will all need to look out for one another a little more than before.”

What a pity this was not mentioned on Dragon, the Surrey Advertiser or Nextdoor before. They would have had many more donations.
