Kids Inc Nurseries have delivered a £10,000 boost for the Dream Factory, the charity that grants wishes to children and young people with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.
Their goal was to raise £5,000 but through many fundraising events during 2024 and the generosity of parents and colleagues, they exceeded their target and raised £10,632.
Kids Inc, which has a nursery in Queen Elizabeth Park, Railton Road, Guildford, announced at the start of 2024 that they had selected the Dream Factory as their chosen charity for the year.
Avril Mills BEM set up the Dream Factory with no government funding in 2008 in memory of her son Oliver, who died from leukaemia aged nine.
While Oliver was ill, Avril helped to grant a dream for a little boy who wanted to visit a football club. That day, Oliver said: “Mum, when I grow up I want to grant dreams just like you”. Oliver never got that chance, but the premise for The Dream Factory was founded. Since 2008, they have granted over 690 dreams in his memory.
Receiving the gift from Kids Inc, Avril said: “On behalf of the Dream Team and the families we work with, I would like to say we are just so grateful. There are so many poorly children who need dreams fulfilled and we need the funds to grant them. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for raising over £10,000! This will help to make even more dreams come true.”
Kids Inc Nurseries are based in and around the M25 area and the Home Counties.
