In response to: Ash Residents Angry After Tory Parish Council Co-Opts Political Ally
Ash Parish Council never cease to amaze. I listened to the two candidates’ presentations; one with a history of service with APC but resigned on health grounds and the other who has amply demonstrated her commitment and leadership qualities in the community during the pandemic with unrivalled passion and energy, qualities very much needed to meet the challenges still facing us.
Sadly, that nine of the 10 parish councillors voted for the past is no surprise. With the recent resignations of two parish councillors, both borough councillors, this is indicative of the malaise that grips Ash Parish Council. But unlike the flu, this is unlikely to vanish, until the next series of elections in 2023 at the earliest.
Until that time, the immortal words of John Cleese in his Dead Parrot sketch will continue to echo in my ears, because they describe our parish council to a ‘T’.
“‘E’s not pinin’! ‘E’s passed on! This parrot is no more! He has ceased to be! ‘E’s expired and gone to meet ‘is Maker! ‘E’s a stiff! Bereft of life, ‘e rests in peace! If you hadn’t nailed ‘im to the perch ‘e’d be pushing up the daisies! THIS IS AN EX-PARROT!”
