In response to: Lib Dem Candidate Calls for Prime Minister’s Resignation

I wonder whether Angela Richardson will respond to the letter I sent her yesterday regards her response to me on December 29 regarding the initial Downing Street Christmas parties which I found unsatisfactory.

It is clear that the problem in the parliamentary Tory Party is grossly escalating.

I wrote:

Dear Angela Richardson,

I’d like to give you an opportunity to update the response that you sent me regards Downing Street gatherings on December 29.

Over the last week, the revelations that have been exposed, including the prime minister finally admitting (after days of deceit) his attendance at a social gathering on May 20 2020 when the country was in full lockdown suggest that the problem is more deep-rooted and widespread than even I originally expected.

In your response, please can you specifically address the following questions I have:

  • Do you support the prime minister unequivocally after his statement in the Commons?
  • If the answer to the above is yes, please can you explain why?
  • Do you believe in the concept of ‘one rule for us and one rule for them?’ (I am repeating this question in the hope you don’t ignore it again);
  • If the answer to the above is yes, please can you explain why you think that is justified?
  • Do you think that the police should investigate the numerous government / Conservative Party social gatherings that have been exposed?
  • If the answer to the above is no, please can you explain why you think these apparent breaches of the law shouldn’t be subject to formal police investigation?
  • Do you support any of your constituents regards refunds of Covid related FPNs [fixed penalty notices] handed out by Surrey Police over that first lockdown?
  • If the answer to the above is no, please can you explain why?

I don’t understand why those at 10 Downing Street believe they still have a mandate to govern.

My faith in the top tier of government acting in my best interest, and that of the country overall, is completely broken. Why should they formulate strategies and policies which affect us all if they are unable to make sacrifices for the common good?

They cannot really understand or share my painful experience of the pandemic restrictions or they would know that apologies aren’t going to work. I really think they will all have to go.

In the real world of Government, perhaps better questions would be:

What do you think is the chances of a third world war?

Do you think the Russians or the Chinese could start it?

Are you concerned security in the civil service is adequate considering there are so many leaks?

Do you think Smart Motorways are safe?

Do you believe the public health crisis is over?

Has the NHS done a good job during the public health crisis?

Should we consider Chinese influence a security risk to our democratic county?

It is time to stop lambasting individuals and start looking to protect our country from outside influence and infiltration by undesirables. All I see in the writer’s questions are simply political distractions trying to unbalance the governance of our country, trying to make our elected leaders take the eye off the ball regarding their elected purpose and then complaining when they do.

Very sound points from Jim Allen. “Partygate” contrived outrage has a limited shelf-life.
